Be Mine… Literally: Single on Valentine’s Day

Are you single this Valentine’s Day? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered.

New York City definitely lives up to its catch phrase as the city that never sleeps. Just like any other holiday this time around I’m seeing pink, red and white colors schemes everywhere. Have you guessed it yet? Yep! Valentine’s day is approaching and I’ve collaborated with Noushky a blogger I met at Black Bloggers United meet-up event last year. You may know her from her interview on IHATEAVERAGE Podcast or her post on Huffington Post. We’ve teamed up to bring you ten ideas for your Valentine’s day from two single ladies who are busy but still enjoys life.

My Top 5 Things I Like to Do on Valentine’s Day (#MeDay)

1. Put a Pin in It

Yep! its time to pin yourself into your own calendar. As we get older our responsibilities become more demanding which can lead to you being neglected. Make today a “you” day.

2. Turn off the light and light a candle

I’m the one who enjoys the warm feel that candles give when I get cozy on my couch, put on a good Hallmark love movie and savor the moment. If your felling a bit creative, pull out your adult coloring book.

3. Jump Start a New Regimen

You’ve been thinking about your summer body and even set a New Year resolution, but its almost two months into the year and you still haven’t started. Its not to late, start now! Let the endorphin’s kick into remind you why you want this.

4. Get out and do Something Fun
Look for discounts for your attractions. Last year I went to an R&B concert with a group of friends. We had a blast and this year we’ll be going again. Instead of purchasing our tickets from the venue we went on Groupon and was able to purchase our tickets for $30 less than the venue price. Saving some money is always a plus for me.

5. Share the Love
If you’re a person who gets fulfillment by serving others. I say do it and do it in style. Host a dinner party for you and your single friends.

Spread love is the Brooklyn way- The Notorious B.I.G

I know a few good friends who are spending the day volunteering together. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be spent eating an expensive dinner in a crowded restaurant! You can share love in many ways.

Yea and its a great day to do so. Imagine the amount of hearts they’re going to touch by just being there.

Great post! Being single on Valentine’s day should not be a punishment. Show yourself some love or if you really hate being alone, find some single girlfriends to hang out with.

Cool things to do. I would add read a book in public or watch uncomfortable couples at a restaurant. It’s wicked l know, but l used to enjoy how stressed people were on these forced dates on Valentine’s. I was better to be alone :-).

lol omg people watching is so funny to me. People really get stressed out around the holidays. I think its not that serious. If you really want flowers, dinner and chocolate. Go out and do it yourself. If you feel you deserve it don’t wait for someone else to shower you with gifts. Do it on your own for yourself.

I’m a light-a-candle-kinda-gal too. I love the fragrance and glow from a candle. I’m really interested in getting more familiar with Groupon. Thanks for putting that in your list. I never think to go to that app for deals. I compiled a list too. Hope you’ll check it out too. I may have incorporate similar ideas in next year’s Valentine’s Day blog.
