Living in the Present

 Living in the Present

Living in the present is something I completely believe in. Most of my friends know that I am one who loves making connections through;  reading, writing or having an intense conversation over tea or ice cream by the pier or on the couch.

It has been something that three to four years ago I decided to try to fight against and I didn’t even know it. It was a trying time, a moment when a lot of things were happening both in my family and friend world. The conflict was the lack of connection and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why, why a generic text message didn’t do it for me, why I preferred five minutes of genuine conversation over an hour of superficial talk. The reason was because of my inner me. Which I believe was God showing me… well.. Me. The part of me that honestly cared for another human being and not just myself, although that was what I was seeing (hence the inner battle).

I’ve always had a tendency to dislike certain modern day developments or platforms because even back then I saw how it would take away from the core of individuals being really connected. Having that human connection in the form of being completely engaged, (which I believe is important) gets hindered.
So in my time of learning myself and allowing God to show me .. Me,  I’ve learned to no longer fight it but to return to embracing my traits. The traits that make me unique and at my happiest state of mind.

I believe that often times people need a listening ear to be heard beyond the ear drums. A understanding that they are not the only one in the world being effected by life.

“Everyone is dealing with a struggle you know nothing about”

Bare in mind this is not from a place of neediness or a case of brokenness. No, this is the reality that the current state of how we are operating with each other that has left us at a disconnect. A disconnect from sensitivities regarding others and ourselves. A state of mind that is rubbing you from life values that is keeping you from touching another individual genuinely without wanting something in return. A place that individuals are so concerned about superficial things but aren’t making memories, a place where an individual is so focused on the next… the next dollar, the next job, trip, spouse, check , outfit but forget to take a moment and really appreciate what they have. Appreciate the today in comparison to where you use to be.  Being in your present allows you to appreciate the past and find a peace about the future.

t

So take a moment and live in today. Sit at the park and take in the beauty. Grab a good book, read and enjoy your space. Volunteer or help a neighbor, don’t think only about yourself but live knowing we as a people need each other.

Until next time, I’ll be #ActivelyLIVING while #LivingACTIVELY

When was the last time you’ve taken time out to reflect and be in the present?

This is a very important concept, especially in this age of technology. I have a bangle that says “live in the moment” on it as a constant reminder. Life will pass you by if you don’t. Great post!

This must be God speaking to me through you. The last few days I’ve been overworking myself trying to do everything which includes my two sites. I need a break indeed.

This is so true. That Bible verse is one I am really trying to focus on this year. Stop worrying and live for now. Great post!

I think I live in the present very well most days, but there are times I worry too much about what is ahead because I have no idea what’s going to happen. Lol guess I’m still figuring myself out…

This was great. Sometimes we are so focused on things that we miss moments. I needed to be reminded of this. Thanks!

This is a great post, and a great reminder to live in the present. It is so easy to get caught up with work, a relationship, and social media these days.
