How Shopping will help me Save for the next six months
Shopping to Saving for Six Months
I think it great everyone is showing their success on social media of their latest purchase or accomplishments which I think is great. However as much as that is great to look at I know I will not be going out every single week to purchase the latest anything. I’ve actually always been like this and it’s because I don’t like having a lot of stuff; I just don’t care for it. I’ve learned early thanks mom to buy good quality items because it last longer (investment). I have a goal of going on a shopping freeze for the rest of the year. I’m going to allocate the funds towards savings because I have goals to meet and debt to pay off. That also means only one trip for me this year via plane. What I’ll be showing on my YouTube is how I put together outfits using the clothes I have in my closet.
I started doing this last year as part of my Shop My Closet Series (SMCS) but I was still purchasing pieces here and there. However this time around from April to October I’ll be on a shopping freeze. I’m even taking it a bit further by not spending on the following; unplanned taxis, eating out or unnecessary household products. I know this can work because, last year I paid off close to 5k in credit cards. I’ve realized if I don’t do something with my habits now, I’ll be back in that predicament.

Don’t lose heart ladies this will be great. I’m excited to see what I come up with. My intentions is that I will always look polished, on trend and chic.

I tend to shop during sales on US holidays. I love to dress up but I don’t go out as much. So I have clothes that are brand new waiting to be worn. Eventually, I will get to wear them and if not I will just give them away. But I don’t stick to buying the latest. I buy what I like and feel comfortable in.
I think shopping your own closet is really a great idea. Most times there really isn’t a need to buy more “stuff”.
I think I will do a shopping for the rest of the year in one weekend and then safe the rest of the way. This is something I think I can actually stick to as I don’t like to shop as is.
I like this idea and meeting your financial goal is major. I need to do a version of this myself, it will be a huge test for me. Thanks
This is a great way to save money. We sometimes have to make sacrifices for the things we want. You have to be conscious about where you spend your money, if not you will look back wondering where did all the money go, with nothing to show for it.
If I dug deep into my closet I can find so many things I never wear. Great advice. Congrats on paying off the debt!
Sounds like an interesting challenge! I should probably consider a shopping freeze too. In a lot of ways it would be a relief.
That’s amazing that you were able to pay off 5k in debt! I remember checking your SMCS and got some great tips from it. I had to take a look at my own closet!
It really interesting how much we really spend annually or even during a quarter of a year on clothes.
